The fairy tale classic by Wilhelm Hauff from 1927 will be filmed for the second time after 1950 for the big cinema screen in Babelsberg. The shooting has begun few days ago in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. Director Johannes Naber interprets the fairy tale in a new way and narrates it for young adults. The team guarantees additional characters and story lines, stick fighting and an unique look. Leading actors are Frederick Lau (Deutscher Filmpreis 2015 for VICTORIA), Henriette Confurius, David Schütter, Moritz Bleibtreu, Sebastian Blomberg, André Hennicke as well as Milan Peschel.
The film is among others funded by Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg and the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung GmbH (MDM).
