Analogous to the technological developments in the film industry within the last years the International Film Festival Berlin has been brought to the current digital status too. More than 95% of the round about 2.500 screenings this year will be digital again. The latest milestone on the long way of digitalization is the immersive sound system Dolby Atmos in the Berlinale palace. The system places the sound in the whole room and above the heads of the viewers – by that it guarantees an unforgettable sound experience.
The first movie to benefit from the new sound system is the opening movie "Nobody Wants the Night" with Juliette Binoche, Rinko Kikuchi and Gabriel Byrne, directed by Isabel Coixet, celebrating its world premiere in Berlin.
