Together with three colleagues Gerd Nefzer won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects for his work on the science-fiction-movie „Blade Runner 2049“. „Thank you, Germany! Thank you – great“, he said during his speech and was overjoyed. Nefzer was born in Schwäbisch Hall but works together with Studio Bablsberg for more than 20 years. Therefore one of the first to congratulate him was Christoph Fisser, managing director of Studio Babelsberg: „Gerd Nefzer has worked on many national and international film productions and brought his know-how from Babelsberg to the world“.
Meanwhile Gerd Nefzer is back in his office in Babelsberg and already has a new focus: he is now looking after THE GIRL IN THE SPYDER’S WEB (direction: Fede Alvarez), a production of Sony Pictures in cooperation with Studio Babelsberg.
