The region of Berlin-Brandenburg is represented in the Berlinale program with 21 productions. Five films even made it into the competition: for instance one documentary about Joseph Beuys from Andres Veiel and Volker Schlöndorff´s feature film “Rückkehr nach Montauk”. Additional, there are “Helle Nächte” (Thomas Arslan), “Pokot (Spoor)” (Agnieszka Holland) and “A Fantastic Woman” (Sebastian Lelio). They compete for the Golden Bears of the 67th Berlinale as well. The Berlinale Special shows several films produced in the region: “Der junge Karl Marx” (Raoul Peck), “Es war einmal in Deutschland” (Sam Garbarski) and of course the film version of Eugen Ruge´s award-winning novel “In Zeiten des abnehmenden Lichts” in direction of Matti Geschonneck.
